Commercial shipping UK to USA

Commercial shipping from the UK to the USA means booking labels, pre-paying US import duty and generating customs paperwork for every parcel you sell across the Atlantic. TradeWind does all three in one flow: connect your store, and each order is quoted on UPS Worldwide Economy DDP with duty calculated per HS code before you pay. Labels start from £12.80 all-in, business rates sit below that.

The rules changed on 29 August 2025 when the US $800 de-minimis exemption ended (Executive Order 14324), and an origin-based US tariff surcharge now sits on top (10% for UK-made goods — the July 2026 successor to the expired Section 122 baseline). Every commercial parcel attracts duty regardless of value, so getting the customs side right at checkout is no longer optional. See what de-minimis ending changed or price a real parcel on the UK to USA shipping calculator.

Bulk parcel shipping to the USA

Bulk parcel shipping means printing many individual DDP labels in one pass — not palletised freight or container loads. TradeWind is built for ecommerce parcels: 100g jewellery, 2kg doormats, 5kg homeware boxes, each with its own commercial invoice and tracked door to door on the UPS network. If you ship pallets or full containers, a freight forwarder is the right tool; if you ship parcels one order at a time, this is.

Import a day's orders, let automation rules assign services by weight, value, country and SKU, and print a batch of labels as ZPL or PDF. Customs data is auto-filled from your product catalog, so 200 parcels take minutes rather than an afternoon of retyping HS codes. Every parcel travels DDP on UPS Worldwide Economy DDP, up to 30kg, 4–7 working days to the 48 contiguous states plus DC.

No-monthly-fee business account

A TradeWind business account costs nothing per month. There's no subscription, no minimum volume and no contract — you pay per label at business rates that sit below our public £12.80 card, and nothing when you're not shipping. Subscription rivals charge £20–£150 a month before you print a single label; that fixed cost quietly eats your margin in a quiet week. We don't charge it.

If you already hold your own negotiated UPS contract, the optional BYOA plan is a flat £29/month and books against your own rates with the full TradeWind toolkit on top — no per-label markup. That's the only paid tier, and it's genuinely optional. Compare both routes on the pricing page.

DDP — your buyer pays nothing at the door

DDP stands for Delivered Duty Paid. It means you pre-pay the US import duty at checkout so your customer receives their parcel with nothing left to pay — no courier phone call, no held package, no surprise customs bill on the doorstep. TradeWind calculates the duty per HS code from live USITC tariff data, shows it before you commit, and pre-pays it to UPS so the quote your buyer saw is the final cost.

The alternative — DDU (Delivered Duty Unpaid) — leaves your American buyer to pay duty plus a carrier handling fee before release, which is the single biggest driver of refused parcels and one-star reviews on the UK→US lane. New to the terms? Read what DDP shipping is or estimate the duty on your goods with the UK to US duty calculator.

Real UK ecommerce operators, not a faceless platform

Ten years on this lane. Half our parcels still go USA-bound.

TradeWind is built by UK Etsy sellers. Three Star Seller shops, 80,000+ verified reviews averaging 4.8 stars, roughly 50% of our own parcels heading to American buyers every week. We use TradeWind ourselves every morning. Click any card to verify on Etsy.

Trustpilot for TradeWind is coming. In the meantime, every star above is a real Etsy buyer's review of a real shop our team ships through every day. If something breaks for you, it breaks for us first.

What sellers ask us.

Do I need my own UPS account?

No. We've already done the bit where you negotiate with UPS — you just pay per label at our rates. No daily pickup commitment, no monthly minimum, no contract.

What does it cost to use TradeWind?

Right now? Nothing. Sign up, ship at our rates, only pay when you book a label. We'll add paid tiers later as we ship more features — early users keep their pricing.

Which platforms can I connect today?

ShipStation and WooCommerce are live. Shopify, Etsy, eBay and BigCommerce are working through their respective approval/OAuth flows and we'll switch them on as each clears. Until then you can still upload a CSV or paste an order list.

Do you do bulk label printing, automation rules and branded inserts?

These all work today on our sister platform LabelMover (we ship a lot of parcels ourselves through it). Porting them across to TradeWind with proper multi-tenant separation is the next major piece of work — most of it is weeks, not months. Tell us what you need and we'll prioritise.

Are there volume discounts?

Yes. The default rates are already among the lowest you'll find for UK→US DDP, but if you're shipping serious volume — say 200+ parcels a month — get in touch and we'll price your lane directly.

Can my team have multiple logins?

Available on request — let us know how many seats you need and we'll set them up.

Is there a monthly fee for a business account?

No. A TradeWind house-rate account is free — no monthly fee, no subscription, no minimum volume. You pay per label at business rates that sit below our public £12.80 card. If you'd rather book against your own UPS contract, the optional BYOA plan is a flat £29/month with no per-label markup on top.

Does DDP mean my US buyer pays nothing at the door?

Yes. Every UK→US parcel ships DDP (Delivered Duty Paid): the US import duty is calculated per HS code and pre-paid at checkout, so your buyer receives the parcel with nothing to pay. Since the $800 de-minimis exemption ended on 29 August 2025, every commercial parcel attracts duty — DDP is what stops it landing on your customer as a surprise bill.
